Site Visit 2 - Example of Typical Portal Frame

Detail: This Bunnings Warehouse is a perfect example of a typical portal frame structure, with Haunching, cross-bracing on the vertical (wall) and horizontal (ceiling) between stanchions, fly-bracing have been fixed back to the horizontal girts which help to stabilise the frame, while their main function is to attach the external cladding.

Visible here is a stanchion with fly bracing, which are fixed back to the horizontal girts. A detail of 2 No. ‘C’ purlins supporting the insulation and wire mesh on the ceiling can also be seen.
